I’m starting to look into pluckers, we are currently raising chickens and ducks, looking into turkeys.  Is that one plucker or several?

Is a plucker something that would fall under state or federal regs is you wanted to sell the meat?  I don’t really care about the regs, I just want to be sure my equipement is above what they would require.

I can’t recommend a specific plucker, as I don’t do enough poultry to make it worthwhile.  But I’m sure someone here will have a good recommendation for you.

My understanding is that poultry processing laws vary wildly from state to state, so that’s a tough one.  But I’ve never heard of them knocking anyone for their plucker, doing on – farm sales.

We have friends that have a drill attachment. Looks similar to a… Cow utter with little grippy nubs all over it. My folks used just their hands…

I’ve seen videos of the whizbang plucker seems to work pretty good, washing machine conversion seems pretty good too. I built one of the $6 types with 4″ PVC cap, threaded rod, and old rubber bungie ties and used it on a corded drill, it worked ok but wish I had built one of the whizbang types. hope this helps.

I have the plans for the whizbang plucker and have watched some videos on it.  I’ve seen videos of the other kinds also. Sow the land has been comparing a couple different ones in their videos.  I was just wondering if anyone had any hands on experience with a particular unit that they liked or disliked.

Good to know about the regs.

                  thanks for the comments.
